'Pixel of pearl' is a series of photographs of mother-of-pearl engraved on a 19th-century Korean cabinet.In general, mother-of-pearl consists of small pieces of shell skins and creates patterns using the lacquerware technique. We considered the single piece of mother-of-pearl as a pixel, a digital image unit, and took enlarged photos with the macro lens.To interpret it as elements of the ten traditional Symbols of Longevity in Korea - sun, mountain, water, stone, cloud, elixir plant, turtle, crane, deer, and bamboo, we only arranged the units of the mother-of-pearl without adding any other touches. The final result was made into a six-folding screen and exhibited at Onyang Folk Museum in Korea in 2020.

^{'자개의 화소(Pixel of pearl)’는 자개의 한 조각을 접사 촬영하여 확대된 이미지로 인쇄한 작업이다. 일반적으로 자개는 나전칠기 기법으로 작은 조각의 조개껍데기로 구성되어 하나의 문양을 이룬다. 우리는 온양민속박물관에 소장된 유물 중 <자개 빗접>(18 세기) 표면에 수놓아진 자개 문양의 부분을 접사 렌즈를 통해 관찰하였다. 한 조각의 자개를 디지털 이미지의 픽셀 (pixel) 단위로 바라보고 이를 십장생의 요소 즉, 물, 학, 구름, 해, 산, 돌로 해석하였다. 자개라는 전통 기법이 지닌 본연의 텍스처를 사진이라는 현대적 매체로 재해석하고 단순화하기 위하여 다른 터치를 더하지 않고 재배열하였으며, 이를 여섯 폭의 병풍으로 제작하였다.}
